Scan a shelf
Photograph a binder page, a shelf or a stack of cases. Titles are read automatically; check them before adding. Choose below whether they go to your collection, your want list, or (owner only) just the shared database. Photos are sent for reading and not stored.
Tips for a photo the reader can identify
Fill the frame. Aim for about 4 discs, or about 10 tapes or cases, per photo. Smaller groups read far better than a whole shelf.
Shoot straight on, not at an angle, so titles are not squished.
Use even light and avoid glare: turn off the flash, move away from windows and bright lamps, and tilt the item slightly if shiny plastic reflects.
Keep it sharp. Hold steady and tap the screen to focus on the text.
Discs: show the printed label side, and take sleeve pages one side at a time.
Tapes and cases: show spines or fronts with the titles facing the camera, and no hands covering text.
Anything marked unreadable can be typed in by hand before you add it.
